In March 2018, 3 members of the Talk2Lab Team: Dr Nicola Knight, Dr Samantha Kanza and Dr Don Cruickshank took part in Pistoia’s Hack the Lab Event and we were awarded 2nd place!
The event had 3 Main Challenges (more info can be found here):
- AI Insight: AI challenges on laboratory datasets
- Future Corner: Challenges to utilise new tech to build a smarter lab
- Health & Safety: Opportunities to use new technologies to develop a safer lab using industry safety datasets, such as Pistoia Alliance’s own Chemical Safety Library
We decided to combine 2 and 3 to use Amazon Alexa to access and query various elements of Health & Safety data, and used Amazon Dash Buttons to facilitate incident reporting in the lab.
